What is on the horizon for The Wake Network?
We are constantly coming up with new ideas for websites. While the wakeboarding industry has been online for quite a long time, the scope of online content for the industry doesn't go far beyond news websites, online shops, and manufacturer's product sites. For some reason, our industry has failed to take the next step to fill these voids in our online makeup that are becoming more and more obvious. The Wake Network has plugged two of the holes by creating an instructional-based website, and news-aggregate blogsite for the wake community. There are still many holes in wakeboarding's online landscape, and we have our shovels ready to fill them. Here are some of the projects that we have on the horizon... (Oh, and all of these websites would be free to the public).
- RateWake.com
-
RateWake is a consumer reports style website. This website will be a place for consumers to go to find the latest wake products, read expert and consumer reviews, and share their own opinion. Of course, that is the site in a nutshell, but some of the methods and features on the website will be really exciting.
- Status: The domain name has been purchased. This is the next site that will go into production.
- Release date? This site will probably go live in time for the new 2009 product line in September 2008.
- ChatWake.com
-
ChatWake is a place for the wake comunity to interact with each other. The site would promote interaction through bulletin boards and live chat rooms.
- Status: The domain name has been purchased. The future of this site is still questionable. There are currently several websites that have active bulletin boards/forums. Our goal is to supplement, not take away from the wake industry. Adding another bulletin board into the mix might dilute the current offerings and hurt the wake industry overall. Currently, none of the aforementioned sites have chat rooms, so that is what keeps the possibility of ChatWake alive.
- Release date? Unknown.
- ShareWake.com
-
ShareWake is basically YouTube for the wake industry. The website allows you to upload your own personal wake-related videos, and view, comment, and rate other people's videos.
- Status: ShareWake was up and running in BETA
mode in October 2007. We never got out of BETA, and decided to take the website down so we could focus our efforts on LearnWake. The current status on SahreWake is undetermined. - Release date? Unknown.
- Status: ShareWake was up and running in BETA
- WikiWake.com
-
WikiWake is wiki website (like wikipedia) for the wake industry. This is a very ambitious project that would attempt to document everything wake. This means going back and documenting the history of the industry including how it began, competition results, events, etc. Not to mention all of the rider and company bios.
- Status: The domain name has been purchased. The website is very easy to build, but filling it with information is a never ending process. We'll need to recrute some experienced wiki authors to help administer the site. We currently don't have the man-power or the funds to get this site going. WikiWake is one of the coolest concepts on this list. this would really be something great for our industry. We would love to one day get this going!
- Release date? Unknown.
- CreateWake.com
-
CreateWake is website for artists of all types. The site will be a gallery for photographs, art/graphics, motion graphics, video production and more.
- Status: The domain name has been purchased. We're still not sure what this website is, and how it will work. We aren't sure what services it will offer exactly and to whom. We've thrown around ideas, but still haven't come up with anything solid.
- Release date? Unknown.
